URBAN THERAPIES <40, Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya

The exhibition Urban Therapies marked the culmination of a project by a group of designers who used design as a tool for experimentation and reflection on the culturally accepted social models in the city. Urban Therapies showcased a series of objects, installations and services aimed at users of the public space. Some ‘therapies’ emerged from observation of the uses of the public space and posited the reinvention of these routines, whereas others challenged them with more ‘disobedient’ proposals. By questioning the validity of accepted and institutionalised models, the exhibition presented new alternatives in the city in fields such as transport, orientation, work and leisure on the street, souvenirs and comfort. The ‘urban therapies’ presented in this exhibition were intended to encourage discussion and reflection and to generate a series of debates between the public, designers and institutions.
