Speculative project developed for the Urban Therapies exhibition (Architects’ Association of Catalonia, Year of Design, Barcelona, 2003).
Hot box is an urban artefact that provides heating for people who spend long periods of time out on the street, exposed to the cold and inclement weather, among them sex workers. Hot box is a translucent volume that rises up from the ground. It can be installed in various places around the city, providing heat and light, making it visible from a distance (for greater safety in dark spots). When it is not in use, the platform remains hidden, as it is integrated into the urban pavement.
